The German American Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2015 TAP-YTL Disruptive Digital and the Internet of Things delegation to Germany from August 2 – 10, 2015. The delegation will offer 12 select participants the chance to explore cutting-edge developments in the field during an intensive, 8-day trip throughout Germany.
With the expansion of big data manipulation, cloud computing, mobile connectivity, and the ever-expanding internet of things, start-ups and enterprising young innovators are taking to the web with fresh ideas, disrupting entire industries in the process. New technologies are transforming everything from the way we hail a cab to the way we control our thermostat, and German companies -big and small- continue to innovate. “German engineering” has come to stand for excellence in technical expertise, a reputation well-suited for developing the technological interconnectivity of the future.
Participants of the 2015 Transatlantic Program for Young Technology Leaders delegation will engage rising stars of the German start-up community, visit leading research institutions and tech incubators, and personally interact with engineers, public officials, and entrepreneurs driving the next generation of disruptive digital technology. Structured intercultural communications training is integrated into the program and assists the Young Technology Leaders in building international networks and advancing their careers.
Eligibility Requirements:
Young professionals -OR- college and university students late in their studies in a program related to the field, preferably at either the graduate or Ph.D. level
Interest and experience in the expanding web tech industry: computer engineering, information technology, tech start-ups, mobile computing, hackathons, etc. Candidates with different backgrounds that feel they can offer a unique contribution are encouraged to apply.
Basic knowledge of -OR- demonstrated interest in learning the German language.
Interest in modern Germany
Work or other practical experience in one’s respective field is preferable
Recommendation by an employer or professor

Program Costs
$550 program fee & individual roundtrip airfare to Germany
TAP-YTL covers all of the following costs:
All overnight stays, meals, and transportation throughout Germany
Fees for programming and cultural activities as part of the official trip agenda
Organization of the program by GACC Midwest and its partners
