Transatlantic Program - Young Technology Leaders: Sustainable Architecture & Urban Planning

Apply now for the August 12-18, 2012 Transatlantic Program - Young Technology Leaders (TAP-YTL) of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACCoM)! Due to popular demand, TAP-YTL is repeating the 2010 industry focus of “Sustainable Architecture & Urban Planning.” The 7-day program will offer up to 12 selected delegation members the chance to meet thought leaders, top architects, technology providers and see first-hand how Germany is crafting new communities and energy efficient spaces for living and working.
The program itinerary includes cutting-edge sustainable architecture and urban planning hotspots:
- Freiburg: ground breaking urban planning design and energy efficient buildings in the Vauban district
- Innovative German technology suppliers of green building components
- International Building Exhibit (IBA) Hamburg: approaching the goal of 100% supply of electricity from renewable sources by 2025 & energy efficient city planning at Hamburg’s biggest development HafenCity
- Legal framework and outlook on German building industry and projects: Federal Chamber of German Architects & Energy Efficiency Export Initiative, Federal Ministry for Economics and technology, Berlin
- Networking opportunities with top university researchers, industry experts, policy makers and peers

Eligibility Requirements:
- Young Professionals and Students in the fields of Architecture and Urban Planning interested in the development of sustainable city planning and green building practices
- Interest in modern Germany
- German language knowledge a plus
Program Fees:
$2,750 - students / 2012 graduates
$2,995 - young professionals
- TAP-YTL covers all program organization, overnight stays* with breakfast included, transportation, two meals and cultural programming that is part of the program agenda in Germany. *Prices are based on double occupancy, please inquire about single rooming options
- Participants will receive $330 toward their round trip flight and are responsible for most meals during the trip.
Due to changes in funding structure, this TAP-YTL program features higher program fees than past TAP-YTL programs. This fee structure aims to ensure a continuation of this exchange opportunity for young North American building and urban planning professionals.
We encourage program applicants to seek support from either their university institution or their current employer to be able to attend the 2012 TAP-YTL: Sustainable Architecture & Urban Planning. Additionally, we have compiled a list of organizations that might be able to provide additional funding for the upcoming program.
